General Questions About Uganda
Uganda is located in East Africa, bordered by Kenya to the east, Tanzania to the south, Rwanda to the southwest, the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, and South Sudan to the north. Its location gives it a diverse landscape and a rich variety of wildlife.
The capital city of Uganda is Kampala. It's a vibrant and bustling city with a rich cultural heritage and a great place to start your Ugandan adventure.

English is the official language of Uganda. You'll also hear many other languages spoken, including Luganda and Swahili. Our guides are fluent in English and often other languages, ensuring clear communication throughout your tour.
The Ugandan shilling (UGX) is the official currency of Uganda, but the United States dollar (USD) is widely accepted and used, especially in urban areas like Kampala, Entebbe, and other major cities. Many tourist-friendly businesses, such as hotels, restaurants, and safari operators, quote prices in USD, and some even accept other foreign currencies like the euro or British pound. However, it's always a good idea to have some local currency, Ugandan shillings, for smaller purchases and transactions. You can easily exchange your money for Ugandan shillings at forex bureaus, banks, or use ATMs to withdraw local currency. Credit cards like Visa and Mastercard are also accepted at many establishments, especially in the service industry. It's worth noting that some businesses might accept mobile payments like MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money, which are popular in Uganda. So, it's a good idea to have a local SIM card or a mobile payment option as well.
Citizens of most countries require a visa to enter Uganda, but the good news is that the process is relatively easy and can be done online through the Uganda Electronic Visa/Permit Application System (Single Entry Permit is USD 50 and Multi- Entry East Africa Visa is USD 100)
To check if you need a visa, you can visit the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC) website. They have a list of countries that are eligible for a visa, as well as those that are exempt.
