Go-karting

What it is

Race small motor karts around a track against your friends or colleagues. It is fast, competitive and easy to learn, and needs almost no fitness. That makes it a strong choice for team building, birthdays and youth groups.

Where in Uganda

• Extreme Adventure Park, Busiika: north of Kampala, where karting sits beside quad biking, ziplining and team games, so a group can make a full day of it. We have taken groups here.
• Lubowa Karting: on the Entebbe Road at Lubowa, handy for groups from Entebbe or south Kampala. We have taken groups here too.
• Meraki, Bugolobi: in Kampala itself, good for a short evening or after-work session.

What to expect

Each session lasts about 10 to 15 minutes. A group event takes about half a day, with practice laps, races and a prize-giving. You can pair it with team-building games or a meal. We arrange the transport, the booking with the venue and the programme for your group.

Activity level

Level 1, Relaxed. Very little walking, though driving fast is more tiring than it looks.

Good to know

• The venue gives you a helmet. Follow the marshals’ flags at all times.
• The venue sets a minimum age and height.
• Wear closed shoes, tie back long hair and leave scarves behind.
• No alcohol before driving.
• Not suitable if you are pregnant or have back or neck problems.
